About Tom
Tom S. Ebbinghouse combines long-standing tax controversy experience with careful planning work for families, business owners, and individuals dealing with financial and legal uncertainty.
Tom graduated from DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana in 1977, where he majored in economics. He was a DePauw Rector Scholar and a member of Phi Eta Sigma and Omicron Delta Epsilon.
He earned his law degree from Indiana University School of Law at Bloomington, now Maurer School of Law, in 1980, graduating cum laude. During law school, Tom served as a law clerk for the Honorable J. Brandon Griffis of the Wayne Superior Court #1. After graduation, he served for two years as Law Clerk for the Honorable Robert H. Staton of the Indiana Court of Appeals.
In 1982, Tom opened his solo practice in Indianapolis, concentrating on IRS tax problem resolution, wealth preservation, estate administration, elder law, incapacity planning, disability, and long-term health care issues.
Tom has chaired and taught many seminars for the Indiana Continuing Legal Education Forum and the Indiana State Bar Association Solo and Small Firm Conference. He is a member of the Indiana State Bar Association, Indianapolis Bar Association, American Society of Tax Problem Solvers, and National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys.
Tom is also an Eagle Scout and has served in multiple scouting leadership roles, including treasurer, Cubmaster, and Assistant Scoutmaster.
